Mamma Santina welcomes you to Salina.
The doors of our large home, well established hotel and restaurant, are open to all who land on this lush and beautiful island.
Our guests are never strangers but quickly become friends because the atmosphere of Salina has the power to bring people together and share the vital energy of the island.
All began with Mamma Santina. As her children married and moved on their rooms were turned into a small “pensione” or guest house. Today these rooms are the suites of the hotel. Her kitchen, once a terrace in the center of the home is now a kitchen for the restaurant where Aeolian dishes are prepared, appreciated and available for all to enjoy. By reading on you will learn about the history, secrets and fun facts of this intimate, quiet village in the heart of Salina, the green island of the Aeolian islands.

Rooms and suites in Aeolian style

The rooms and suites of Hotel Mamma Santina are delightful and comfortable. Each tells a story through small but significant details.

Tricot hammocks, polychrome hand painted Aeolian tiles, original outdoor benches (bisuoli), and rod iron or handpainted wood beds. Some rooms have a splendid view of the sea and other islands, others face a quiet garden with citrus fruits and herbs.

A restaurant inspired by the sea and the recipes of the women from the island

Salina has always had an authentic cuisine.
The land of the island generously produces sweet fruits such as figs and grapes. It also has bitter flavors like capers and olives.
The vegetable garden is the first source of ingredients to create traditional dishes at Mamma Santina’s. This enables us to prepare delicious, healthy food for our guests with a very short supply chain.

Salina, a place where the fragrance of the sea is always in the air.
Fishermens’ boats are full of fish that arrive directly to the kitchen of our restaurant.
Discover the philosophy that inspires us in preparing dishes for our menu.
